Porten - Jens Johannessen

Titled Porten (trans. The Gate), this exhibition celebrates this central artist's monumental career with eight new, vibrant works which delight in abstraction and painterly techniques.

Jens Johannessen is a significant figure in Norwegian contemporary art, born on November 15, 1934, in Orkdal, Norway. His career spans over several decades, during which he established himself as one of the most influential painters in the country. Working in a variety of media, including painting, collage, and photography, Johannessen is renowned for his abstract expressionist works, marked by bold colors, dynamic compositions, and intricate layering techniques.
