New Delhi donates to children in need

27. March 2025
For years, the Indian restaurant New Delhi has delighted food lovers with authentic flavors. But behind the fragrant spices and flavorful dishes lies a deep commitment to helping those in need.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, hospitals and cafeterias in Northern India—owner Baljit Singh’s homeland—were forced to close. The situation sparked a strong sense of generosity in him, and over the past five years, he has raised funds for numerous charitable causes.

"This is something I feel deeply in my heart. I am incredibly grateful to our guests—without them, none of this would be possible," says Baljit.

During the pandemic, he sent food to hospitals and cafeterias in Northern India to ensure that children and the sick had access to essential nourishment. The initiative grew, and in 2021, Baljit decided to turn it into an annual tradition. Since then, New Delhi has dedicated one day each year to donating its entire revenue to humanitarian efforts in crisis-affected areas, including Palestine, Nepal, and Ukraine.

This year, the proceeds will go to children in need, with a goal of raising between 150,000 and 200,000 NOK.

"We hope as many people as possible will visit us on Sunday. Together, we can make a difference," Baljit concludes with a smile.
